The case for a thriving A590 economic corridor that supports existing businesses, and attracts more, by ironing out traffic bottlenecks and creating new start-up units, received a national hearing today (5 April 2018).

Andrew Jones MP, the Conservative Party’s Vice Chair for Business Engagement, came to the J36 Rural Auction Centre where he met councillor James Airey, the Conservative group leader on Cumbria County Council, to hear more about the case for an economic-artery for South Lakes stretching from the M6 to Furness.

Mr Jones and councillor Airey were joined by John Geldard, L&K Group Director, and Katie Black, L&K Group Company Secretary, at the J36 Rural Auction Centre where they also visited local businesses based on the site.

Councillor James Airey, said: “Local businesses in our area need to be supported to create more jobs and prosperity for young people and families in South Lakeland.

“Creating an A590 economic corridor would support existing businesses and help attract new ones. I was pleased that Andrew Jones agreed to visit us in his capacity as Conservative Vice Chair for Business Engagement, to learn more about how resolving traffic bottlenecks and creating more start-up units along the A590 can help bring more jobs and prosperity to our area.”
